Bauer completes piling for Louvre Abu Dhabi
The company has been working on the site of the Saadiyat Island Cultural District since March to place 4,536 pilings, around 100 kilometres of steel and reinforced concrete pile sections, according to the Tourism Development & Investment Company, the state-backed master development in charge of a number of big projects in the emirate.
Aecom Buys Tishman Construction
The companies have overseen some of the world’s largest complex construction projects. Los Angeles-based Aecom is currently working on New York City’s new Second Avenue subway and Saadiyat Island, a $30 billion development off the coast of Abu Dhabi.
TDIC in Cityscape island apartments launch
Plans for just under 500 luxury flats on Saadiyat Island have been unveiled at Cityscape Abu Dhabi. The 495 apartments will be part of a three-plot development eventually comprising almost 1,000 flats on Saadiyat, a 27-kilometer man-made island expected to be home to 160,000 people when it is completed in 2020.
Abu Dhabi bids for ‘it’ status with yachting jet set

Abu Dhabi issue tenders of construction packages for museum project
MEED reported that Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Development & Investment Company has told companies that it will now procure contractors for its estimated USD 1 billion Zayed National Museum project on Saadiyat Island using a series of traditional lump sum contracts.
RWI bags Saadiyat Island insulation contract
Rubber World Industries (RWI) has won an AED600,000 insulation contract for the Manarat Al Saadiyat building in Abu Dhabi. Featured products included Gulf-O-Flex rubber insulation tubes, rubber insulation sheets, PVC black tape and Gulf-O-Glue for the 15,400 m² visitor centre.
Piling starts at Louvre Abu Dhabi
Piling works have started at the Jean Nouvel-designed Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Work will continue over the following 20 weeks with Germany’s Bauer International FZE driving a total of 5638 foundation piles; 4298 steel piles and 1340 concrete piles with a total linear length of 94.2km.
Contracts for three Abu Dhabi museums issued
The main contracts for the three major museums to be built at the capital’s Saadiyat Island Cultural District were issued to tender yesterday, a senior official at the Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) has revealed. The contracts are for the Jean Nouvel-designed Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Zayed National Museum and the Frank Gehry-designed Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, which will form part of phase one of the project.
