Plans for just under 500 luxury flats on Saadiyat Island have been unveiled at Cityscape Abu Dhabi.

The Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) launched the massive project at the four day event in Abu Dhabi, announcing that the apartments will be completed by the end of 2011.

The 495 apartments will be part of a three-plot development eventually comprising almost 1,000 flats on Saadiyat, a 27-kilometer man-made island expected to be home to 160,000 people when it is completed in 2020. The island is made up of seven districts and will include residential, commercial, retail and entertainment facilities, as well as a 150-berth marina.

“Following the success of the sale of phase one of Saadiyat Beach Villas last year, we anticipate similar success for these modern spacious apartments when they are available for leasing in mid-2011,” said Lee Tabler, CEO of TDIC.

The site benefits from its proximity to Saadiyat Beach Marina Village, a huge residential, shopping and entertainment complex due to open in 2012 on the north shore of the island.

“Residents can look forward to benefiting from the close proximity of Saadiyat Beach Marina Village or exploring the ever increasing choice of facilities in the Saadiyat Beach District,” Tabler said.
